Aneeta Thanawalla is a student of the Master in User Experience Design and comes from India. In her opinion, Barcelona is one of the most exciting leading tech hubs in the world, the right place to be right now.
What inspired you to study abroad?
I wanted to become a real expert in my field: user experience. I’m currently studying a Master in User Experience Design at BTS. Basically, I did a research on the city of Barcelona and found out it was on of the leading tech hubs in the world, so it just felt like the right place and the right time for me.
How is living in Barcelona?
Living in Barcelona has been great so far. The weather and the people are amazing, and its public infrastructure is quite remarkable. Besides, as one of the leading innovation start-up hubs, Barcelona it’s the place to be right now.
How do you see yourself in the near future?
I wanted to be a recognized leader in the UX field. In order to do so, I’ll be looking for internships and positions within the UX field that will allow me to grow and eventually become a recognized UX consultant/leader in my field of expertise, which is ultimately my goal.
What do you expect of your internship?
I’m just about to start my internship so, on the one hand, I’m excited, on the other hand, I’m not sure what to expect from it, but I’m looking forward to learning different ways of working and collaborating with people from different cultures. Seeing techie tens working alongside design departments inspires me a lot.
Are you developing new skills?
Yes, I am. Every day I feel I’m learning something new. I’ve already had the chance to try different kinds of design software. Besides, I’ve started to learn how to code last week. Hence, I’m learning a lot in a short time to be able to achieve my dreams.
Why would you recommend Barcelona Technology School?
Technology school has been amazing for a couple of reasons: the teachers are great and they are also industry professionals so I’m learning from real examples and case studies, my colleagues are from all over the world so this is a learning experience in which we also learn from each other, and last but not least living in Barcelona is just great and for me that was one of the main reasons I’ve chosen this city.
Is this time abroad impacting your life?
Yes, it is and in so many ways. I’m learning and growing, which was the reason I ultimately came here for. Plus, when you arrive in a new city there’s so much to learn: a new language, a new transport system, and so forth. You also learn how to look after yourself, to have enough time to carry out the assignments, to do your internship, and so on in order to achieve a better study, work, and personal life balance.
How is your experience at Barcelona Technology School?
Studying at BTS has been amazing so far, because we’ve had a lot of support: from BTS staff, to our teachers and everyone here. Still, the best part of this experience is that we’ve been able to build a network with several promising future digital leaders, which is actually the thing I appreciate most about being here.
