Nicole is a student of the Master in User Experience Design at Barcelona Technology School. She comes from South Africa and enjoys her life here in Barcelona – multiple connections have opened after joining BTS and she is now working as an Art Director in Abi Global Health. Let’s see what Nicole has to tell about her studying experience.
What inspired you to study abroad?
I have always loved being abroad. I think the experience you gain living in another country, being submerged in another culture is just irreplaceable. So, that’s something that I’ve always aimed for in my life.
How is living in Barcelona?
Living in Barcelona has been a fantastic experience. I mean, if you don’t come here for the weather then I have nothing else to say. The weather is fantastic, the technology scene is amazing, art scene is amazing, lots of culture – just a wonderful experience.
How do you see yourself in the near future?
For the future I see myself working in a company that I am really happy with. I have a pretty good position already, I’m in a great team. I got it right after joining BTS so that’s been fantastic. And I would just continue to grow in this path, continue to learn and grow my skills.
Are you developing new skills?
At BTS I have developed some amazing new skills. I am a UX major, so specifically things like entrepreneurship, content strategy, UX writing, creative thinking – these have all been things that I didn’t know much before, so that’s been wonderful to learn about these things.
Why would you recommend Barcelona Technology School?
I would recommend BTS basically for 2 reasons. First thing is obviously – Barcelona – it’s a fantastic city. And the second thing is the skills and the networking opportunities that you are going to get here – is really amazing.
Is this time abroad impacting your life?
The time abroad has definitely impacted my life. Very positively I would say. You get a very big, open-minded perspective on life and you also grow your professional skills because you’re not necessarily just having an opinion from your own country but also from another country and from many other different cultures, because this is an international school – you get to meet with people from all over the world. That has a fantastic impact on you.
How is your experience at Barcelona Technology School?
My experience at BTS has been amazing. I’ve had wonderful things that I’ve come of joining this Master’s but I should also tell you that you have to work – it’s not something that you are just going to come here and enjoy the city – you have to put in some hours. But it’s going to be profitable and you are going to not regret it, it’s going to be amazing.
