Dakshya Sharma
Dakshya is a student from the Master in User Experience Design at Barcelona Technology School. She came from Canada to Barcelona to find her purpose. BTS inspired her to be exposed to different international perspectives, new opportunities, and ideas. Dakshya in the future would like to continue developing her skills in storytelling & UX strategy.
What inspired you to study abroad?
What inspired me to study abroad was the fact that I would be exposed to different perspectives around the world as opposed to being stuck in my boring job with the same people every day. I wanted to explore the world, explore new people and learn something new.
How is living in Barcelona?
Living in Barcelona is amazing! You can find yourself here, you can go to the beach, you find calm and peace, but then you can be exposed to new ideas, new perspectives and opportunities in the vibrancy of the city.
How do you see yourself in future?
Well, over here, I have got the opportunity to find my purpose recently. I found this in storytelling and being a UX strategist. So, in the future, I hope to continue finding my purpose and working hard at those things.
Are you developing new skills?
Yes, I feel like I am developing a lot of new skills here, starting with communication and teamwork. That has been something amazing that I have been able to go through especially being in a diverse classroom. Second my hard skills as a designer, for example, I did not have much technical background such as illustrator or sketch, and I get to do these here and ask as many questions as I like. I am very grateful to BTS for giving me this opportunity.
Why would you recommend Barcelona Technology School?
I would recommend Barcelona Technology School because here I got the opportunity to take risks. Take risks and fail, and get feedback, and do it all over again. I do not think that I would get this opportunity anywhere else.
Is this time abroad impacting your life?
Yes, absolutely. I have met so many new people, I have done so many things, I have discovered so many new things about myself that I didn’t know I had in me.
How is your experience at Barcelona Technology School?
My experience at BTS has been amazing. When I first came here, I didn´t know who I was, I didn´t know what I want out of my career. But because I was able to connect with my professors, ask questions and explore as much as I could, I feel that I found the direction and purpose.
