What inspired you to study abroad?
What inspired me to study abroad is that Darwin has a saying: “Is not the strongest that survives but is the one that can adapt the best to a changing environment”. So, I think studying abroad is a great opportunity to experience a changing environment, and put yourself out there, meet new people and see what you can do in a new environment.
How is living in Barcelona?
Living in Barcelona is great! It is a very exciting and vibrant city, I think it has the perfect combination of culture, and some beautiful nature to go into as well. I really enjoy the element of having the ocean and mountains nearby, and of course there is a lot of tech companies too, so great start-up scene there as well!
How do you see yourself in future?
In the future I´d really like to combine creativity and technology coming together, I think I could imagine a career in change management, innovation management or anywhere where I can help companies to take the next step in evolving in the digital age, achieving the technical, business and human-centric requirements for this change.
Are you developing new skills?
For sure! Definitely developing a lot of new skills. Recently we´ve been learning about artificial intelligence, machine learning, different ways that you can manage technical teams and keep everyone inspired. Definitely I am learning a lot from the lectures.
Why would you recommend Barcelona Technology School?
I would recommend Barcelona Technology School because of the lectures, they have a lot of experience in the field, so you are constantly learning what is going on now, you are not learning from an old textbook from the 90s. You are learning what you can do as soon as you leave the school, and how you can design the future. I really enjoy the content of the lectures, and I think that inspiration has been a great element.
Is this time abroad impacting your life?
I think that being abroad is a great opportunity to meet new people. We have had fellow students from all around the world in our class, and I am really looking forward to keeping in touch after the studies too. I really hope that this is going to positively impact my career. I think this is really going to be a next step for finding a job that is modern and creative, and staying in Europe too. To have an European education is another element that I was attracted too, coming from South Africa. I think this is going to be a great opportunity moving forward.
How is your experience at Barcelona Technology School?
For me, Barcelona Technology School also has been a great way to balance working at the same time. Half my day, I work remotely at my Berlin company, and the other half of the day we are doing online lectures. Hopefully, that is offline next year, but we´ll see. I think it is being a very exciting time, I´ve learned a lot of new subjects and I´ve also been inspired to avoid the digital transformation theater as they say. So, we really learn to have practical solutions that we can implement and have a human-centric approach.
