Kathryn Nicolson
Hi, my name is Kathryn Nicolson. I come from Scotland and I’m enrolled in the Master in Digital Transformation Leadership.
What inspired you to study abroad?
I actually did my Erasmus in Salamanca in Spain, and I’ve always wanted to come back. I think that studying abroad it’s an amazing opportunity to get outside your comfort zone, meet new people and change your perspective.
How is living in Barcelona?
Barcelona is an amazing city, honestly, I love it. and it’s unique. I think that you’ve got the sea and the beach, but you can also get a metro and walk into the mountains as well. So, I love it. I love the people and its really chilled lifestyle.
How do you see yourself in future?
In the future I would love to be leading change in an organization, whether it be a digital organization or a more traditional company. I’d love the opportunity to apply what I’ve learned in the Masters in a future role.
Are you developing new skills?
Definitely. I think the Masters is a really good mix of group work and theoretical stuff, and we have teachers who are from industry, which I think is a real advantage. They’re equipping us with skills, knowledge, and toolkits I would say that we can take away and put into practice in real life.
Why would you recommend Barcelona Technology School?
I would recommend Barcelona Technology School because I think it’s quite unique that you are taught by teachers who are working in the industry, so they have the most up-to-date knowledge to impart on you and can really put into practice the theory and give real life examples. I think that’s what’s really unique about this Masters and I think the school is an amazing school in a great location in Barcelona. It’s an opportunity to meet people from all over the world and different cultures, and I would really recommend it to anyone.
Is this time abroad impacting your life?
This time abroad has really been an amazing opportunity to change my environment and my perspective on my future. I think when you change up your environment, it’s a real opportunity to look at your life and what you want from your future. I think being surrounded by a lot of different cultures and like-minded people inspires you to think about what’s next and the direction you want to go in.
How is your experience at Barcelona Technology School?
I actually think being real, it’s been real confidence building for myself and my own abilities. So, I’ve had experience working in digital technology, leading change in my past role. But I think coming here has reinforced that actually you are capable, you are confident, and you can lead change and get up and present in front of an audience, speak with an actual company and deliver a project for them. So, I’ve come away really confident in my abilities and equipped with a lot of good tools for the future, which I really think is invaluable.
