Dr. Marco Inzitari is the Director of Intermediate Care Transformation for the Catalan Department of Health and serves as Director of Integrated Care & Research at Parc Sanitari Pere Virgili, one of Barcelona’s leading geriatric care institutions. He also heads the REFiT research group at Vall d’Hebron Institute of Research (VHIR).
With a solid background in geriatrics, rehabilitation, and healthcare management, Marco leads both clinical and research teams, overseeing over 500 healthcare professionals across intermediate care, outpatient, and home services. He has authored more than 110 peer-reviewed scientific articles and conducted research in Spain, Italy, and the United States, including time at the University of Pittsburgh.
His leadership focuses on innovative models of care for frail older adults, chronic disease management, digital health, and healthcare system transformation. In addition to his clinical and academic roles, he serves as a consultant and advisor to various national and international institutions, including the Government of Canada, IFIC, and the Spanish Ministry of Science & Innovation.
