Nils Jennissen
Hello, my name is Nils Jennissen. I am enrolled in the master of Big Data and Artificial Intelligence Solutions here at BTS in Barcelona and I am really enjoying my time.
What inspired you to study abroad?
What inspired me to study abroad… well, in my bachelor’s degree I already had the opportunity to study abroad. In my bachelor’s I went to Sydney, a very sunny and beautiful city in Australia and for my master’s degree I was looking for a similar experience. So, Barcelona was the city or location I settled for.
How is living in Barcelona?
Living in Barcelona is beautiful. I’ve had two, three or four rainy days in the whole year I’ve been here. It’s a very beautiful and sunny city. There are lots of things to see, lots of beautiful cuisine kitchen, architecture, etc.
How do you see yourself in future?
How do I see myself in the future… I think I am currently still shaping the path that I could take in the future. I am feeling that Barcelona Technology School is shaping very well this path for the future. It is difficult for me to actually pinpoint the jobs that I will be doing in three to five years, but if I really think about it, I reckon that it would be a mixture of consultancy in building artificial intelligence products and, maybe, a little bit of teaching as well.
Are you developing new skills?
I actually do have the feeling that I am developing skills every day. Just five minutes ago I built my first convolutional neural network and I think we are not only doing small steps but rather very big steps on a daily basis.
Why would you recommend Barcelona Technology School?
For me it’s specially the shortness of the course. Within roughly one year I have been able to develop my career, to built new skills, meet new people, and get to know the beautiful city of Barcelona.
Is this time abroad impacting your life?
I definitely think that this time abroad is impacting my life. I am currently looking into staying a little bit longer in Barcelona. If I prolong my stay, I might be able to learn a bit more Spanish, that I didn’t manage to learn until now. I hope there is a long time in Barcelona waiting for me.
How is your experience at Barcelona Technology School?
I think my experience at Barcelona Technology School is quite intense. I would say living in a new city, with a new language, a lot of new friends and roommates is kind of a difficult situation to manage and then, on top, we get very interesting topics within the master that we have to develop each day and learn each day new things. And it is really sticking up for something.
