Sereen Masri
Sereen Masri is a student from the Master in Digital Solutions Development at Barcelona Technology School. She comes from the U.S. Before the Master, she studied communication and worked in IT government consulting for two years.

What inspired you to study abroad?
Well, I was already living here in Spain. I decided to do some research and I found Barcelona Technology School’s program. Since I was interested in UX design and some coding, I found that this Master in Digital Solutions Development at BTS could work it well.
How do you describe your experience in a city as Barcelona, about living and studying?
I love Barcelona. Since I come from the United States, this city is really different for me. It´s a very affordable cost of living, comparing to where I was living before. Everyday life is very good and easy, and I like here so much.
Could you describe three most valuable aspects of living in Barcelona?
The transportation is really really easy, biking, walking and other ways. This a small city so everything is very accessible, easily and quickly, so you can get from one side of the city to another under twenty minutes. Besides, it’s almost always sunny.
What do you expect for your internships?
I have started an Internship at Nuvolar Works, a successful start-up that has been up and running for over 6 years. My role is as a technical product owner for the product web app. I love it so far, the job is truly a compliment to this masters program. Now I am able to apply what I am learning to a real-life experience.
How do you see yourself in the future? And what would you like to do really?
Now that I have an internship that is meant to be a full-time job upon the completion of my masters, I plan to stay and work here in Barcelona. Nuvolar is a great company that allows for creativity and innovation which is all I could ask for and more. My ultimate goal with more experience and time working as a P.O., is to transition my career into a UX designer.
Do you think this Master is helping you to develop new skills?
Yes. I´m learning a lot of very different things, things that I never knew anything about before, and complementing part of skills I already had. The Master in Digital Solutions Development gives me a lot of new things to think about technical skills.
What’s your review of Barcelona Technology School? and why would you recommend BTS?
Yeah. It depends on what everyone is looking for, because everyone has different expectations. Some people came here for the technical aspects of the program, and some other people came here for business side, so it depends on what´s your background and what are you interested in. This Master in Digital Solutions Development gives you an overview of everything, a baseline of information and from there you can choose what you are really interested in and spend your own time to study more about it.
Is this time abroad impacting your life?
Yes, definitely. I came here to have a new experience, and this is exactly what I´m doing, so it´s everything I came for.
How is your experience at Barcelona Technology School?
A different experience. A dynamic and hands-on Master compared to other programs, which is good! And being able to apply what we are learning is important and I like that we´re doing it. We are not just studying and being lectured theory, we´re actually applying it.
