Digital disruptions like Artificial Intelligence or telemedicine are swiftly reshaping healthcare services, improving citizens quality of life and supporting the health ecosystem transition towards value-based healthcare.
The main aim of our interdisciplinary Master in Digital Healthcare is to build a digital health workforce to bridge the current knowledge gap between health and technology to address the health-related societal challenges throughout the development and implementation of evidence-based digital solutions.
Health and social care systems, insurers, service providers, pharmaceutical companies and the broad range of stakeholders that are part of the health ecosystem need to adapt and embrace emerging disruptive technologies to gain competitiveness, create new business models or simply ensure the sustainability of the system.
As digital health consolidates, health, pharma and technology organizations will need to recruit clinicians, engineers and managers equipped with technology innovation knowledge and skills, and a deep understanding of the complexity of the health and social care sector.
What Will I Learn?
The Master in Digital Healthcare will provide with the necessary tools, methods, legal framework and technological expertise of the health ecosystem in order to develop and implement patient-centric solutions which address societal needs while developing new business opportunities.
This program of study is aimed at students who have a degree in Health Sciences, Engineering, Life Sciences or Mathematics and who would like to develop their professional career in this field.

Students will learn to understand and compare how different countries organise their health and social care systems. Despite the diversity of models worldwide, they will identify the common structures, key components, and general patterns that define how health services are delivered and governed, gaining a global perspective on healthcare organisation.
Students will learn how to protect and improve the health of individuals and communities through public health strategies, research, and prevention. The module covers key areas such as health and society, healthcare reform, epidemiology, and economic appraisal, while addressing major public health challenges and global societal issues. Students will explore how to promote healthy lifestyles, prevent diseases, and respond to health threats to improve the wellbeing of populations.
Students will learn how information technologies are applied to health and social care environments. They will explore how health information is managed across digital systems and how data can be securely exchanged between patients, healthcare providers, payers, and regulators to improve care quality, efficiency, and coordination.
Students will learn how to manage innovation in digital health by applying ideation, validation, and evaluation processes. They will understand the challenges of generating evidence for new technologies, the importance of evidence-based practice, and how to promote innovative, ethical, and efficient healthcare solutions.
Students will explore how disruptive technologies and digital transformation are reshaping healthcare. They will learn how to manage change across business models, processes, and ecosystems by applying digital transformation methodologies. The course will provide the knowledge to understand how technologies like AI, IoT, blockchain, or VR can drive innovation, improve healthcare delivery, and respond to the challenges of an evolving, complex healthcare environment.
Students will learn how Artificial Intelligence and data are transforming the healthcare sector, understanding how to extract value from health-related data to improve decision-making, efficiency, and patient outcomes. They will explore real-world applications of AI in healthcare, from diagnostics to operational processes, and reflect on the ethical, technical, and strategic challenges of implementing AI-driven solutions in such a critical industry.
Students will explore how Value-Based Healthcare is transforming health systems to focus on patient outcomes, efficiency, and sustainability. They will learn to measure and improve care quality while maximizing the efficient use of resources. Through practical tools and real-world examples, participants will discover how to implement data-driven strategies, promote patient empowerment, and drive healthcare innovation. The course emphasizes personalized care, shared decision-making, and the ethical considerations essential for building equitable, high-quality healthcare systems.
Students will learn how to apply implementation science to ensure that research findings and digital health innovations are effectively adopted in real-world healthcare settings. They will explore strategies to overcome the gap between knowledge and practice, understanding how to successfully introduce new technologies and solutions into clinical, organizational, and policy environments.
Students will develop the key skills to successfully manage projects and lead teams in complex, digital environments. They will learn to plan, execute, and monitor projects using both traditional and agile methodologies, while managing change and fostering a digital culture. The course also explores how to attract and manage digital talent, understand financial fundamentals, and build high-performing teams prepared to drive innovation and deliver results in the health sector.
Students will explore the complex legal landscape at the intersection of healthcare and technology. The course covers critical topics such as data privacy, patient confidentiality, intellectual property rights, and regulatory frameworks including HIPAA, GDPR, and FDA regulations. Special attention is given to emerging areas like apps as medical devices, drug development regulation, and the legal challenges posed by innovations such as AI, big data analytics, and genetic technologies. This module prepares students to navigate legal risks and ensure compliance while fostering innovation in digital health.
Students will learn to think and act like entrepreneurs in the digital health sector, developing the mindset and skills to create impactful ventures. The course covers lean startup methodologies, funding sources, and healthcare business models, guiding students from ideation to market launch. Emphasis is placed on customer development, continuous validation, and financial management. Additionally, students will explore corporate venturing and how to engage with digital health hubs and the broader startup ecosystem to drive innovation within organizations.
During the program students have to work on a final project aimed at developing a digital transformation strategy for a healthcare or pharma institution that wants to operate successfully in digital environments.
